Prof. Michael Haude

President of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI)

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM YOUR INVOLVMENT IN THE CONGRESS ?

EHealth is going to be more and more interesting for the community, it is important to realize that this dedicated congress is covering the whole spectrum of eHealth.
When we talk about cardiology relation to eHealth, specific sessions are contributing to the special interest of EAPCI in this congress, for example big data management, ehealth for scientific analysis or also dedicated sessions on atrial fibrillation, cardiovascular risk factor management or implant devices.
What is important when we talk about eHealth is the communication between doctors, patients, and third partiy institutions in order to exchange data and here we are talking about huge volumes of data. Additional aspects have to be considered and are presented at this congress : Legal aspects of ehealth that need to be followed, specific requirements from the different groups and stakeholders that need to be addressed etc.

WHAT TYPE OF PROFESSIONALS WILL YOU BE MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING ON SITE ?

I think it will be a quite heterogeneous group of people that is going to come together, for example there will be one session dedicated to driving eHealth in Europe and that will bring together the key players, such as different politic stakeholders, the payment stakeholders and also the differents programs that are involved into eHealth.
This means that we will not only see physicians there, we will also see politicians, both on national level and also on the EU level, we will see physicians of course and representatives of patients, and let us not forget the technician side and innovators in order to drive eHealth with all the innovation that is necessary to do so.

ACCORDING TO YOU, WHAT WOULD MOST HELP ECARDIOLOGY AND EHEALTH TO GROW IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE ?

The most important thing with all the electronic progress we see is that it has to make our life, or in particular professional life or interaction with the patient, easier, more productive, more exciting for all the stakeholders involved in those different relations.
This is the major target and if eHealth and eCardiology can succeed in providing this, it will be a great success.
